About Black Beach Campground
What if your next camping trip exceeded every expectation of what a lakeside retreat could be? Black Beach Campground in Alcova, Wyoming, defies the usual vision of sandy shores with its striking dark, pebble-strewn beach that edges the vivid waters of Alcova Reservoir. This campground’s natural beauty, direct access to the reservoir, and opportunities for fishing and boating make it an ideal destination for relaxation and outdoor adventure alike.
The campground features 20 campsites, including one ADA-accessible site, with amenities such as picnic tables, fire pits, trash service, and restrooms. Its two boat ramps and spacious group shelter cater to both individual campers and larger gatherings. While it offers a rustic experience without water or utility hookups, the tranquil atmosphere and prime waterfront location more than compensate. Morning hours are especially serene, perfect for kayaking or enjoying the peaceful natural surroundings.
Located approximately 30 minutes from Casper, Black Beach Campground sits along the eastern side of Alcova Reservoir, a popular recreation area. The reservoir is well-known for its excellent fishing, with species such as rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, and walleye. Visitors can also enjoy hiking, swimming, or exploring the nearby Dinosaur Interpretive Trail. Whether you’re planning a weekend escape or a day trip, Black Beach Campground offers a rare blend of striking scenery and water-based recreation suitable for every type of camper.
