Campground Overview
About Doris Creek Campground
Doris Creek Campground offers a serene getaway along the expansive Hungry Horse Reservoir in the Flathead National Forest, just 14 miles southwest of Glacier National Park’s West Glacier entrance. With its tranquil setting, easy water access, and proximity to one of Montana's most iconic outdoor destinations, this campground is ideal for travelers seeking a mix of relaxation and adventure.
The campground features 10 tent and RV sites with basic amenities including picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and an accessible vault toilet. A concrete boat launch nearby provides excellent access to the reservoir, making it a favorite spot for boating, fishing, and swimming. Anglers will appreciate the opportunity to catch cutthroat trout, while the forested surroundings offer a chance to spot local wildlife like grizzly bears and lynx. However, campers should come prepared with all essential supplies, as there is no on-site water access.
Sitting just south of the Hungry Horse Dam, which supports hydroelectric power and flood control for the area, the campground gives visitors a chance to marvel at the engineering of one of the tallest dams in the U.S. Combined with the convenience of nearby Glacier National Park and the sweeping mountain views, Doris Creek Campground is suited for overnight stopovers, peaceful weekend retreats, or extended vacations exploring the region's natural beauty.
