Doughton Recreation Area

The campground itself provides 108 sites, including tent-only and RV spaces without hookups, each equipped with a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern post. Comfort stations with flush toilets and drinking water are spaced throughout, although no showers are available. Enveloped by dense trees or open meadow views, campsites cater to varied preferences for privacy and scenery. The site's direct access to numerous trails makes it a natural haven for hikers and wildlife enthusiasts, with opportunities to see deer, foxes, and even bobcats.

Located near milepost 239 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, about 10 miles from Traphill, North Carolina, Doughton Park offers easy access to local gems like the historic Bluffs Restaurant and impressive hiking destinations such as the Basin Creek Trail leading to the Caudill Cabin.
