About Great Bend Campground
Shaded by the serene banks of Sandy Creek near its confluence with the Ohio River, Great Bend Campground offers a peaceful yet activity-rich camping experience for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. With a mix of 13 paved, full-hookup RV sites and 5 primitive sites featuring electricity and water, this campground combines accessibility with an authentic natural setting. Each site includes a picnic table, vehicle pads, and access to grills and fire rings, making it a thoughtful destination for both short-term escapes and extended stays.
The campground’s standout features include nine boat docks for pontoon and smaller boats, an ADA-compliant kayak launch, and opportunities for exceptional muskie and bass fishing. For active visitors, on-site concrete walking trails and a nearby network of mountain biking trails offer excellent recreational options. Families will appreciate the ADA-compliant playground, while wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy frequent sightings of deer, herons, and other birds.
Conveniently located in Ravenswood, West Virginia, Great Bend Campground is an excellent base for exploring the nearby natural and cultural attractions within a 30-minute radius, including the Kevin Clegg Memorial Trail system for outdoor adventures and the historic Great Bend Museum for a glimpse into local history.
