Campground Overview
About Harmon Den Campground
Beneath the canopy of Pisgah National Forest's mixed hardwoods, Harmon Den Horse Campground offers a serene and secluded retreat for equestrians and nature enthusiasts alike. With its dedicated horse camping amenities, access to a vast network of trails, and proximity to breathtaking mountain scenery, it stands out as an ideal destination for exploring western North Carolina’s rugged wilderness.
This 10-site campground is thoughtfully divided into two loops, with the upper loop reserved for horse campers and the lower loop catering to tent campers and small trailers. Each site provides essential facilities, including horse stalls, mangers, picnic tables, fire rings, and tent pads, as well as a hand pump for centrally located non-potable water and vault toilets. A self-service manure station and a livestock watering tank further enhance the equestrian-friendly accommodations. Trails nearby, such as Buckeye Ridge and Cold Springs, connect campers to the region's forested beauty, while activities like hiking, fishing, and hunting also draw visitors.
Situated just off Interstate 40 in Haywood County, the campground is conveniently accessible yet maintains a remote atmosphere. Within a 30-minute drive, visitors can experience the Appalachian Trail, Max Patch’s panoramic views, or the charming town of Hot Springs. Whether embarking on a weekend getaway or an extended horseback adventure, Harmon Den Horse Campground embodies tranquility and outdoor adventure in equal measure.
