About James Kipp Campground
Can you imagine a campground where the untamed beauty of Montana’s Missouri River meets excellent camping facilities? James Kipp Campground is an ideal destination for campers seeking solitude, natural beauty, and proximity to outdoor recreation. Situated on the banks of the Missouri River near the Fred Robinson Bridge, roughly 30 miles north of Roy, Montana, this Bureau of Land Management (BLM) campground offers a serene wooded setting in the riverbottom area.
The campground features 19 single sites and 15 group sites, equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. Campers can also take advantage of a boat ramp for launching onto the Missouri River and a fish cleaning station, making it a prime spot for fishing and boating enthusiasts. Trash disposal and an RV dump station are also available, ensuring a convenient stay. While there are no hookups, the campground’s facilities are well-maintained, and the summer host ensures smooth operations.
Located close to the Missouri River Breaks National Back Country Byway, this is an excellent base camp for exploring the rugged badlands, viewing wildlife, and soaking in the history of the area, including connections to the Lewis and Clark Trail.
