Lake Sherwood Recreation Area

A serene retreat surrounded by the vast Monongahela National Forest, Lake Sherwood Recreation Area is a standout destination with its pristine 165-acre lake, diverse camping options, and abundant outdoor activities. The campground features 155 campsites spread across four loops (Meadow Creek, Pine Run, West Shore, and Cales Knoll), catering to tents, trailers, and RVs. Each site includes essential amenities like tent pads, picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern posts. Modern facilities such as flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station enhance the experience, though no electrical hookups are available. The area also boasts group camping, picnic shelters, a playground, volleyball courts, and hiking trails for all skill levels. Lake Sherwood itself offers opportunities for fishing (stocked with varieties like tiger muskie and largemouth bass), paddling, and wildlife viewing, while an arched walking bridge leads to the lake's charming island.

Located approximately 26 miles northeast of White Sulphur Springs, the campground provides access to the stunning Greenbrier Valley, with outdoor highlights like The Greenbrier Resort just 15 minutes away.
