Campground Overview
About Limestone Campground
Perched above the rushing waters of the Upper Kern River, Limestone Campground offers an intimate and rustic retreat for campers seeking memorable immersion in the Sequoia National Forest. Encircled by oak and gray pine at 3,800 feet elevation, this scenic spot is prized for its tranquil atmosphere, thrilling proximity to river rapids, and easy access to exceptional outdoor recreation.
With 22 sites suited primarily for tents and smaller RVs (up to 30 feet), the campground provides essential amenities, including picnic tables, fire rings, and clean vault toilets. However, no potable water or electrical hookups are available, so campers should come prepared. Many sites feature partial shade, and their placement offers stunning views of the river below. Access to activities such as whitewater rafting, fishing, and hiking is just steps away, with the scenic Trail of 100 Giants only a short drive from the campground.
Located 16 miles north of Kernville on Sierra Way/Mountain 99, Limestone Campground is a peaceful alternative to busier options in the area. Its setting above the river minimizes crowds while maximizing natural seclusion, making it an ideal base for day trips, weekend escapes, or extended stays exploring the Kern River's untamed beauty and the incomparable Sequoia National Forest.
