About Michigan Creek Campground
Are you searching for a high-altitude camping retreat with tranquility, natural beauty, and easy access to outdoor adventures? Michigan Creek Campground, located at 10,100 feet in elevation within the Pike and San Isabel National Forests, promises just that. This small, first-come, first-served campground features 12 primitive sites surrounded by aspen and pine trees, with Michigan Creek flowing nearby and stunning views of the Colorado Rockies.
Each campsite offers essential amenities, including picnic tables, fire rings, and access to vault toilets, but there are no electric hookups or water service, so campers should come prepared. The serene setting is ideal for tent campers and small RVs (up to 25 feet), offering a respite from modern distractions. Hiking trails, such as the French Pass Trailhead and paths leading to Georgia Pass, are easily accessible, making it a great base for exploring the area.
Situated about six miles north of Jefferson, Colorado, Michigan Creek Campground allows convenient access to natural attractions within a short drive, including Jefferson Lake (8–9 miles away), a popular spot for trout fishing. The campground’s location along County Road 54 also provides opportunities for off-road exploring and dispersed camping. If stargazing, bird-watching, or simply soaking up the quiet beauty of the Rockies is on your agenda, Michigan Creek Campground delivers a classic Colorado wilderness experience.
