About Point Campground

Pine Point Campground offers a serene lakeside retreat with panoramic views of the San Juan Mountains, combining well-maintained sites and easy water access for an ideal outdoor getaway. Situated on the eastern shore of Vallecito Reservoir in southwestern Colorado, this campground provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The 28 sites, including 13 first-come, first-serve spots, are nestled among mature ponderosa pines, offering ample shade and a sense of seclusion.

The campground's location makes it a prime destination for water enthusiasts and anglers. Vallecito Reservoir is renowned for its excellent fishing, with species like German brown trout, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, and northern pike available. Boating, water skiing, and canoeing are popular activities, with a sheltered boat area conveniently located just south of the campground.

For those seeking land-based adventures, Pine Point serves as an excellent base camp for hiking and horseback riding. The North Canyon Trail, accessible directly across from the campground, winds through ponderosa pine and aspen forests, offering a scenic overlook of the reservoir. Meanwhile, the nearby East Creek Trail provides access to a secluded drainage popular among fly fishermen. The campground's proximity to these diverse recreational options makes it ideal for weekend getaways or extended vacations focused on outdoor exploration.
