This group-only campground, located within Antietam National Battlefield, provides a rustic retreat for organized groups seeking to immerse themselves in both nature and American history.
The campground features 10 walk-in sites, each accommodating up to 30 people and equipped with fire rings and picnic tables. Facilities are basic, with pit toilets and handwashing stations available, reflecting the campground's commitment to a more authentic, unplugged camping experience. The sites are nestled among trees, offering some shade and separation, though proximity between sites varies.
Situated in the Cumberland Valley of western Maryland, Rohrbach Group Campground is just steps away from key Battle of Antietam sites. The surrounding 3,250 acres of Antietam National Battlefield encompass a diverse landscape of farmland, pastures, and woodlots, providing excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and historical exploration. Campers can easily access the battlefield's 15 miles of hiking trails, including the popular Bloody Lane and Final Attack Trails, or cycle the tour road for a comprehensive battlefield experience.
