Sheep Creek Dam

Isolated on the rolling plains four miles south of Elgin, North Dakota, Sheep Creek Dam Recreation Area provides an oasis for anglers, nature enthusiasts, and families seeking tranquility. The campground features 10 campsites, including five with electric hookups, offering a mix of primitive tenting and RV options. Amenities are basic but well-suited for self-sufficient campers, with a vault toilet, a water spigot, picnic tables, fire rings, and a nearby boat ramp. While shade and privacy may be limited, the serene environment compensates with panoramic views and nighttime stargazing opportunities. Generators are permitted during limited hours, ensuring a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

Beyond the campground, the 85-acre Sheep Creek Reservoir is a magnet for those keen on fishing, with species like bass, trout, and walleye abundant in its waters.
