Stove Prairie Campground

Stove Prairie Campground, located along the Cache la Poudre River 26 miles northwest of Fort Collins, Colorado, is a serene destination perfect for nature enthusiasts seeking fishing, hiking, or just a tranquil retreat away from urban life. Set against a backdrop of steep mountains and lush forests, this small campground offers nine campsites, including four walk-in sites ideal for tent campers and five sites accommodating RVs or trailers up to 40 feet in length. Each site includes a tent pad, fire ring, grill, table, and bear-proof food storage. Vault toilets and seasonal drinking water add to the convenience, though there are no utility hookups available.

The campground's position on the banks of Colorado's first National Wild and Scenic River makes it an exceptional spot for fly-fishing and whitewater rafting, with abundant opportunities to catch trout or enjoy thrilling water activities. Nearby, hikers can explore trails like the Young Gulch Trail or the Kreutzer Trail within a short drive, offering stunning views and peaceful settings.
