Campground Overview
About Tabor Campground
Perched at 9,900 feet along the northeastern shore of Colorado's stunning Turquoise Lake, Tabor Campground offers a serene yet accessible retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. The campground's defining features include its shaded lodgepole pine setting, convenient access to the lake via a dedicated boat ramp for kayaks and canoes, and proximity to a variety of recreational opportunities, all within a tranquil alpine environment.
The campground features 15 first-come, first-served sites, each equipped with picnic tables, fire rings with grates, and access to potable water and vault toilets. While the sites accommodate tents and small recreational vehicles, they are relatively close together, so privacy may be limited. From here, visitors can enjoy fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding directly on Turquoise Lake. The area is also a haven for hiking and mountain biking, with numerous trails nearby that showcase the scenic beauty of the San Isabel National Forest.
Located just five minutes west of Leadville, Tabor Campground provides an ideal base for exploring the charming historic town and its surrounding attractions. Within a 30-minute drive, adventure seekers can reach the Mount Massive Wilderness and trailheads leading to Colorado's tallest peaks, making this campground a perfect choice for both casual campers and ambitious hikers.
