Campground Overview
About White Oaks Campground
Under the canopy of towering oaks and pines, White Oaks Campground offers a serene and secluded retreat in the Los Padres National Forest, just off Tassajara Road. With only eight campsites arranged in an intimate loop, this tranquil spot is defined by its natural beauty, privacy, and unforgettable wildlife viewing, including red-tailed deer and vibrant birdlife.
The campground's centerpiece is a lush berry bush encircled by shrubbery, creating a focal point for wildlife enthusiasts. Shaded by dense tree cover, each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, offering privacy and a sense of immersion in nature. While basic facilities such as vault toilets are available, campers need to bring their own water, as none is provided on-site. Access to the Pine Ridge Trailhead, only 2.7 miles away, opens the door to 23 miles of scenic trails, making it a superb base for hiking and exploring the picturesque Santa Lucia mountain range.
Located approximately 20 miles from Carmel Valley and 38 miles from Greenfield, White Oaks Campground is a bit off-the-grid, with no cell service and rough roads best suited for high-clearance vehicles. Its rustic setting and proximity to the Ventana Wilderness make it ideal for nature-focused escapes, whether for day hikes, weekend getaways, or peaceful extended stays. Prepare for a self-reliant adventure and enjoy the undisturbed charm of the California wilderness.
