Forbes Creek Group Campground

Forbes Creek Group Campground offers a serene retreat by the southeast shore of the picturesque Sugar Pine Reservoir, surrounded by towering cedar and pine trees. With breathtaking views of the reservoir, convenient access to nearby trails, and a wealth of outdoor activities, it’s an excellent choice for group camping that blends natural beauty with practical amenities.

This campground features two spacious group sites, Rocky Ridge and Madrone, each accommodating up to 50 people and 18 vehicles. Both sites include a central campfire circle, picnic tables, and a cooking area, making it ideal for communal gatherings. Amenities include potable water (with a high iron content, so bringing drinking water is advised), vault toilets, and accessible facilities. Campers can enjoy activities such as swimming, fishing, canoeing, and hiking, with trails connecting the campsites to the reservoir and a nearby boat ramp. The surrounding area also boasts access to the North Fork of the American River for additional recreation.

Located just 9 miles from the town of Foresthill and less than 30 minutes from Interstate 80, the campground provides a convenient yet secluded escape. Its positioning within the Tahoe National Forest allows campers to immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature while being close to local attractions.
