Set above the north shoreline of Sugar Pine Reservoir, Shirttail Creek Family Campground offers a serene escape into the tall pines and cedars of the Tahoe National Forest, just 15 miles from Foresthill. The campground's proximity to the sparkling reservoir makes it an excellent choice for fishing, boating, and swimming enthusiasts, while its connection to well-maintained trails ensures rewarding hikes and mountain biking adventures.
The campground features 29 designated sites, equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. Vault toilets and potable water are conveniently available, alongside bear-proof trash containers for safety and cleanliness. A non-motorized paved trail encircling the reservoir is accessible directly from the campground, providing peaceful walks or bike rides with scenic views and interpretive stops. Beyond the reservoir, the nearby North Fork of the American River offers additional opportunities for fishing, swimming, and whitewater boating.
