Campground Overview
About Gold Basin Campground
The scent of cedar and the gentle rush of the Stillaguamish River welcome you to Gold Basin Campground, where 29 primitive sites blend seclusion with easy access to alpine adventures. Old-growth forests of fir and hemlock frame the campground, offering shade and privacy, while the river’s clear waters invite quiet contemplation or a brisk swim. A large open field provides space for group activities, and the nearby Gold Basin Mill Pond interpretive trail reveals the area’s logging history through relics and wildlife viewing platforms.
Located 13.5 miles east of Granite Falls, this US Forest Service campground serves as a gateway to the Mountain Loop Highway’s hiking trails and the rugged beauty of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The Pacific Crest Trail is accessible nearby, and the North Cascades’ dramatic landscapes lie within a short drive. Vault toilets and drinking water are available, though the lack of showers emphasizes the rustic charm. Winter transforms the area into a cross-country skiing and snowshoeing destination, while summer draws anglers and horseback riders to the riverbanks and trails.
