Campground Overview
About Point Reyes National Seashore
Where coastal cliffs meet pristine beaches, Point Reyes National Seashore campgrounds deliver an unforgettable backcountry experience that combines natural beauty, peaceful isolation, and unique opportunities for exploration. Whether you hike or paddle to your destination, these secluded sites cater to those seeking an immersive escape into Northern California’s rugged coastline.
The seashore offers four hike-in campgrounds—Wildcat, Sky, Coast, and Glen—each providing its own distinct charm. Wildcat Camp, perched on a bluff, offers easy access to Alamere Falls and ocean views, while Sky Camp provides panoramic vistas of Drakes Bay and the surrounding hills. Coast Camp, located in a cozy coastal valley, is ideal for beach access and tide pooling. Glen Camp, tucked into a wooded valley, boasts solitude deep within the park. For a unique twist, Tomales Bay offers twenty boat-in campsites along sandy coves backed by cliffs. All campgrounds feature vault toilets, food storage lockers, picnic tables, and either nearby potable water or advice to bring your own.
Located about an hour north of San Francisco, Point Reyes is more than a campground—it’s a gateway to adventure. Proximity to over 150 miles of hiking trails and attractions like the Point Reyes Lighthouse and Tomales Bay ensures every trip is rich with activity. From whale watching and tide-pooling to trekking through meadows and woodlands, the area offers something for every outdoor enthusiast.
This experience, however, requires preparation. All campgrounds are strictly backcountry accessible, with moderate to strenuous hikes or boating required to reach the sites. Fires are prohibited, and campers are expected to follow Leave No Trace principles. Whether for a weekend getaway or an extended adventure, Point Reyes National Seashore campgrounds offer a pristine, challenging, and deeply rewarding escape into nature.
